La misión cultural de la Biblioteca Universitaria

Abstract

La biblioteca universitaria está llamada a cumplir una función cultural del primer orden. Sin embargo, la situación resulta imprecisa debido, entre otras cosas, a la potenciación de la autonomía universitaria y la progresiva profesionalización de la enseñanza superior, lo que ha propiciado que se oriente más hacia el apoyo informativo. Se explican las dicotomías existentes entre la formación profesional y la cultural. Al final se reflexiona sobre el papel de la biblioteca universitaria en el terreno de la cultura impartida en la educación superior, teniendo en cuenta aspectos relativos a la difusión cultural y la cooperación interbibliotecaria y con otras instituciones.
