Abstract

[EN] Here we present the pollen sequence from Carril de Caldereros (Lorca, Murcia), involving one of the first palaeoenvironmental records for the second half of the Holocene in semi-arid southeastern Iberia, within a relatively continental territory adjacent to fluvial basin. This sequence shows that, while the palaeoclimatic context is one of progressive aridification, anthropogenic disturbance was a first-order factor in shaping landscape change. It is suggested that the onset of the Holocene ecological degradation took place about 4600 cal yr BP, in correlation with the Calcolithic archaeological period.
