This trial compared the effect of commercially available and experimental Aqua-Aid wetting agent formulations (soil surfactants) at varying rates to an untreated control on a Calcareous 90% sand:10% sphagnum peat USGA (United States Golf Association) specification rootzone supporting a stand of ‘Flagstick’ fairway height creeping bentgrass (~9.0 mm Height of cut, HOC). The results from the first year of this study showed that surfactant application improves water absorption on golf fairways in shallower depths (0 to 2 cm) after one application. Turf greenness, organic matter (%), and visual ratings were similar across all treatments.
