Abstract

Benchmarking in maxillary sinuses in phantom with conventional radiology.

Introduction – The maxillary sinuses correspond to the jaws, classified as pneumatic bones. The jaw bone is difficult to assess due to their irregularities, and to contain the sinuses (cavity). Knowledge of these structures by dentists radiologists who perform the evaluation, it is necessary in order to avoid treatment failure and iatrogenic. Material and Methods – If you used a phantom skull and neck, the same provides comprehensive assessment of the imaging system and imaging techniques under realistic conditions. Images are acquired with conventional radiology protocols with the incidence of maxillary sinuses, method of Waters, radiography lateral of face and Hirtz, for comparison and evaluation of three dental radiologists. Results – If the following information detach the lateral radiography of face received 100% approval, radiography Waters obtained 74.9%, and radiography Hirtz obtained 58.3%. Discussion – How maxillary sinuses are often viewed on conventional dental radiographs, as well as some of skull radiographs, one must know the anatomy of the maxillary sinuses, including its shape, size, anatomical variations and related structures, to define what is the best incidence for radiological assessment. Conclusion – In search of assessed, comes off as the better radiography lateral of face, to evaluate structures, disease and the treatment, secondly the Waters incidence and the third Hirtz incidence.
