Norwegian nurses have been staging sporadic strikes in response to a proposed wage freeze by the government for the whole country. It intends to limit wage increases for everyone to five per cent, although inflation is running at just under seven per cent. The good news for nurses is that they, together with teachers, are now exempt from the wage restrictions and can carry out their own negotiations.
