Abstract

L’état de stress post-traumatique des militaires revenant des opérations extérieures de l’armée française a, depuis vingt ans, durablement marqué les combattants. Ces blessures diminuent les avoirs guerriers rendant inapte au combat le corps physique du soldat. L’armée, ses organes et les associations spécialisées dans l’accompagnement post-traumatique proposent des activités sportives pour aider le blessé à retrouver sa place dans la société militaire et civile. Or, la pratique d’un sport pour se reconstruire relève de dynamiques sociales hétérogènes. Les manières d’exercer une activité sportive font ressortir des motivations différenciées qui discriminent les militaires entre « pur utilisateur » en reconstruction physique dans un continuum thérapeutique, « ultra sportif » en quête d’adrénaline dans une morale de l’endurance et du dépassement, et « pratiquant individualiste » voulant se réaccorder avec soi dans une recherche de confiance. Basée sur une méthodologie compréhensive et qualitative, cette recherche revient sur les usages sociaux du sport dans la reconstruction post-traumatique du militaire blessé en opération.
