DIFICULTADES EN EL APRENDIZAJE DE LA MATEMÁTICA

Abstract

Se puede decir que las dificultades de aprendizaje son aquellos problemas causados por las diversas maneras que funciona el cerebro y la forma en la cual éste procesa la información. Las dificultades de los estudiantes para aprender matemática no son casuales, ya que están basadas en los conocimientos previos y tienen diferentes causas que las motivan. Así, pueden asociarse a dificultades didácticas, epistemológicas, cognitivas o actitudinales. Los estudiantes con dificultades de aprendizaje deben experimentar situaciones abundantes y variadas, relacionadas entre sí, que los lleven a valorar la matemática, desarrollar hábitos mentales, entender y apreciar el papel que cumple en la vida cotidiana. En este contexto, el profesor tiene un papel fundamental en el proceso de construcción de saberes, se convierte en un guía activo responsable de contextualizar el currículo. Por otra parte, las dificultades y errores forman parte del proceso de construcción del conocimiento y pueden ser un factor que provoque cambio en el aprendizaje del alumno, transformándose así, en un elemento constructivo dentro del proceso de enseñanza - aprendizaje.
