Bilinguismo Funcional: Assunção Descomplexada

Abstract

Resumo: Em Cabo Verde, a situação linguística que se vive é a de diglossia, devido ao estatuto diferenciado existente entre a língua portuguesa (Lp) e a língua caboverdiana (Lcv), a qual é reconhecida também por crioulo caboverdiano. Com efeito, a Lp é língua oficial, língua do ensino, da administração, dos mídia, do distanciamento social e das produções literárias. A Lcv, por sua vez, é língua da oralidade ambiental, do quotidiano informal, das relações de amizade, da música e com muito pouca expressão literária. O bilinguismo funcional que se pretende em Cabo Verde passa pela assunção do estatuto oficial, do uso formal e informal das duas línguas, em ambiente de inteira liberdade de opção, em paridade de circunstâncias e igualdade de oportunidades. O presente trabalho explicita a situação linguística que neste momento vigora em Cabo Verde e aponta a visão do futuro que, no campo linguístico, melhor se adequa ao País.
