Manfaat Tanaman Daun Kumis Kucing (Orthosiphon aristatus): Studi Literatur

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah, termasuk tanaman obat tradisional yang telah lama digunakan secara empiris oleh masyarakat. Salah satu tanaman potensial adalah kumis kucing (Orthosiphon aristatus), yang dikenal memiliki efek diuretik dan berbagai manfaat farmakologis lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kandungan senyawa aktif dalam daun kumis kucing dan potensinya sebagai alternatif pengobatan alami, khususnya sebagai agen diuretik. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi kepustakaan (library research) dengan mengumpulkan data dari berbagai literatur ilmiah terbitan 2018–2025. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa senyawa seperti asam litospermat I, dikafeoil tartarat, dan ortositonon C dalam kumis kucing memiliki energi ikatan lebih rendah dibandingkan obat sintetik seperti furosemide dan acetazolamide, yang menandakan afinitas yang lebih tinggi terhadap reseptor diuretik. Selain itu, kumis kucing juga bermanfaat dalam mengatasi gangguan ginjal, hipertensi, rematik, dan asam urat melalui aktivitas flavonoid dan glikosida. Dari sisi ekonomi, tanaman ini mudah dikembangkan dan memiliki prospek pemasaran yang baik melalui sistem distribusi lokal. Dengan demikian, kumis kucing berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai fitofarmaka diuretik berbasis herbal yang aman dan terjangkau
