Abstract

La gran variedad de paisajes que presenta el relieve de España se refleja, también, en la de su arquitectura popular. Asi, nos encontramos con una tipología que va desde las viviendas con sólidos muros pétreos y techumbres pizarrosas de acusadas vertientes, a las construidas con material de barro -adobe y tapial-, o escarbadas en la tierra, con grandes terrazas, pasando por las entramadas a base de madera y cerramientos de guijarros, a las barracas huertanas de Levante, y a los conjuntos urbanos de plazas y calles porticadas; más las construcciones accesorias, de usos agrícolas, tan pintorescas y típicas como los hórreos de la cornisa norte o los molinos de viento en la submeseta meridional y en los territorios insulares balear y canario. Todo lo cual da un interés excepcional a un conjunto, en el que se hermanan, felizmente, la geografía, la tradición y la historia para crear ambientes únicos de evocación y de belleza.
