Bisphenols are precursor chemicals used along with other chemicals to create some plastics and resins that are commonly used to harden plastics. The world’s natural environment is filled with these bisphenols, which are commonly utilized as additives in numerous industries: bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol AF (BPAF). These chemicals affect humans and animals by disrupting estrogen, androgen, progesterone, thyroid, and aryl hydrocarbon receptor functions. A number of countries in the European Union, North and South America and Asia have adopted restrictions on the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in infant products, specifically baby bottles. The safe substitution of this widely used substance is one of the main developing challenges surrounding BPA, a typical endocrine disrupting agent that has been the subject of extensive research.
