Repercussões Psicossociais em Pacientes Submetidos a Laringectomia Total por Câncer de Laringe

Abstract

As alterações estéticas e funcionais decorrentes do tratamento da região de cabeça e pescoço podem trazer repercussões no desempenho do papel social, expressão emocional e na comunicação. O presente estudo buscou compreender o significado da submissão à laringectomia total por câncer de laringe. Concluímos, que a vivência do câncer e da laringectomia acarretaram repercussões psicossociais principalmente no que se refere ao prejuízo no contato social devido a perda da voz e da permanência do traqueostoma, apesar disto, a percepção de que o tratamento permitiu aos indivíduos continuarem vivos e terem a oportunidade de retomar ou iniciar projetos possibilitou que os mesmos apresentassem uma apreciação positiva em relação à cirurgia. O que pudemos notar é que uma postura passiva e por vezes resignada frente à vida foi aspecto marcante.
