Absceso pulmonar con presentación atípica: reporte de caso

Abstract

El absceso pulmonar corresponde a una colección circunscrita de pus o material necrótico localizado en el parénquima pulmonar como resultado de una infección bacteriana. Se considera una patología de baja prevalencia, pero con importante morbimortalidad. El presente artículo reporta el caso de un paciente masculino de 49 años, con un cuadro de tos y expectoración de un mes de evolución, en quien se documentaron hallazgos sugestivos de un absceso pulmonar de presentación atípica y se describe la imagen obtenida por tomografía axial computarizada. Además, se describe la definición, epidemiología, factores de riesgo y manifestaciones clínicas de esta patología.
