Optimismo y resiliencia en adolescentes

Abstract

 La psicología positiva brinda una perspectiva renovadora basada en las fortalezas personales como el optimismo y la resiliencia, pues la ausencia de estos factores protectores, hace que los adolescentes sean más propensos a enfrentar problemas de salud física y emocional, ya que por su etapa propia de cambios son más vulnerables a los factores de riesgo. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre optimismo y resiliencia en adolescentes. Métodos: Se empleo una investigación cuantitativa, no experimental, con alcance descriptivo, correlacional y corte trasversal. La muestra fue seleccionada mediante un muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia, se contó con 165 adolescentes, siendo 109 mujeres y 56 hombres, con edades comprendidas entre los 14 y 18 años. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Life Orientation Test Revised (LOT-R) y la Escala de Resiliencia de Wagnild y Young. Resultados: Los hallazgos de esta investigación indican una relación positiva leve de intensidad baja. La media de puntuación del optimismo fue de 14.6. Además, se encontró una baja y muy baja resiliencia en los participantes. Finalmente, no se identificaron diferencias significativas encuanto al sexo. Conclusiones: Las expectativas favorables respecto a situaciones futuras contribuyen a la capacidad de adaptación y superación de las adversidades, lo que facilita el bienestar emocional.
