Efeito dos Agonistas GLP-1 no Controle do Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2

Abstract

O Diabetes Mellitus Tipo 2 (DM2) é uma doença crônica que compromete a capacidade do organismo de regular a glicose no sangue, principalmente devido à resistência à insulina e disfunção das células beta pancreáticas. Os agonistas do receptor de peptídeo-1 semelhante ao glucagon (GLP-1) surgiram como uma classe promissora de medicamentos no tratamento do DM2, promovendo não apenas o controle glicêmico, mas também oferecendo benefícios adicionais como perda de peso e melhora das complicações associadas ao diabetes. Este artigo busca avaliar a eficácia dos agonistas GLP-1 no manejo do DM2, revisando a literatura sobre sua ação na redução dos níveis de hemoglobina glicada (HbA1c), perda de peso corporal, e prevenção de complicações macrovasculares e microvasculares. A revisão da literatura mostrou que os agonistas GLP-1 são eficazes tanto na redução dos níveis de HbA1c quanto no controle do peso corporal, além de demonstrarem potencial para reduzir o risco de complicações cardiovasculares.
