In this chapter, I approach the notion of imagistic thinking as an artist and offer a view of the image as something ongoing and unfinished, and as an opening toward which we move. I delve into the process of making the large charcoal drawings that accompany the other chapters in this book. These drawings were developed in response to the authors and their chapters, and because the project was partly collaborative, in my chapter, I invite the reader into the drawing process and the considerations around drawing the figure. I approach the drawn figure not firstly as a form with a surface, but as a forming of a “we,” and so this chapter, my drawings, and the words that formed the basis of my response, are about the imagistic as something that involves responsibility, action, and investment.
