Abstract

La investigación valora los niveles de fatiga física y cognitiva, síndrome burnout y satisfacción por compasión en 15 cuidadoras informales de niños en estado de orfandad de una institución de acogida de la ciudad de Ambato. La metodología es de tipo cuantitativo, posee un diseño no experimental y un alcance descriptivo, correlacional, de corte transversal. Las valoraciones se realizaron a través del Check List Individual Strength (fatiga física y cognitiva), el Maslach Burnout Inventory (síndrome de burnout y sus componentes: cansancio emocional, despersonalización y realización personal), y la subescala Compassion Satisfaction, del Professional Quality of Life Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue Subscales - Version V (ProQOL - V). Los resultados señalan la presencia de altos niveles de fatiga física; en la variable síndrome de burnout se encontraron niveles bajos de cansancio emocional, niveles medios de despersonalización y realización personal, y tendencia a burnout global; la satisfacción por compasión encontrada es promedio. Las correlaciones que se encontraron entre fatiga física y despersonalización fueron bajas negativas, estadísticamente significativas; mientras que las correlaciones que se encontraron entre despersonalización y satisfacción por compasión fueron altas negativas, estadísticamente significativa. Estos resultados, donde el efecto interpersonal del síndrome de burnout se ha visto anulado, parecen relacionarse al género de las participantes, debido al alto nivel de implicación emocional que las mujeres desarrollan con los destinatarios de su trabajo y funciona como un factor protector frente a la despersonalización.
