Abstract

Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus determina importantes prejuízos para bovinocultura. Porém, seu frequente controle pelo uso de acaricidas sintéticos, favorece além da resistência farmacológica, a presença de resíduos medicamentoso nos alimentos e meio ambiente. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar ação acaricida do óleo essencial de manjericão e seu hidrolato, sobre carrapatos bovinos. Utilizando o teste de imersão de adultos, foram avaliadas as taxas de mortalidade e oviposição do óleo essencial de manjericão (OEOb) 10, 20 e 30%, seu hidrolato 10, 20, 30 e 100%, além dos tratamentos controles negativo e testemunha. OEOb 10% determinou 53% de mortalidade não sendo possível observar melhores resultados quando aplicadas maiores concentrações, semelhantemente ao observado para seu hidrolato 100%. Com relação à taxa de oviposição, nenhum tratamento foi capaz de determinar inibição. Embora moderada, a mortalidade determinada pelo OEOb 10% pode contribuir para minimizar o uso de pesticidas sintéticos. Este fato é particularmente importante para sistemas orgânicos de produção animal, uma vez que acaricidas químicos sintéticos comprometem a certificação e seus produtos.
