
Una invaginación intestinal ocurre cuando una porción del tubo digestivo se introduce dentro de un segmento del mismo, inmediatamente caudal a él. La invaginación intestinal es una causa poco frecuente de dolor abdominal en adultos; es poco común. Ocurre en el menos del 1% de la obstrucción de intestino delgado; cuando se presenta se relaciona con tumores gastrointestinales hasta en el 80%. La invaginación idiopática es extremadamente rara en el adulto, 10%. La variedad ileocólica predomina en el adulto. Presentamos dos casos de invaginación intestinal de etiología idiopática en edad no pediátrica.
