Prevalencia según Vertucci de los conductos radiculares en dientes incisivos

Abstract

Introducción. La clasificación de Vertucci describe la morfología interna de los conductos radiculares, considera ocho configuraciones anatómicas principales, en este estudio se ha incluido los dientes incisivos de ambas arcadas. Objetivos. Identificar la prevalencia de conductos radiculares en los dientes incisivos según la clasificación de Vertucci en los pacientes atendidos en las clínicas de endodoncia de la Universidad San Gregorio de Portoviejo en el periodo octubre 2023 – marzo 2024. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, observacional y no experimental de carácter retrospectivo, en el que se analizaron 150 historias clínicas de los pacientes atendidos en endodoncia, además, se examinaron radiográficamente 546 dientes incisivos centrales y laterales del maxilar superior e inferior. Resultados. La prevalencia de un segundo canal radicular es mayor en los dientes incisivos del maxilar inferior (7,69%). De acuerdo con la clasificación de Vertucci, la configuración anatómica más prevalente en los dientes incisivos fueron el tipo I (92,30%), seguido del tipo V (6,59%). Conclusiones: La identificación de los conductos radiculares en los dientes incisivos es elemental para el éxito del tratamiento endodóntico.
