This chapter synthesizes the life, work, and philosophy of Mike Reynolds, one-time architect and founder of the Earthship Movement based in Taos, New Mexico. For Reynolds tires are the biggest and the single most ubiquitous natural resource in the world and therefore an effective raw material for Reynolds' off the grid biotecture communities of habitations that are known as ‘earthships.’ This article is a synthesis of the author's interview Reynolds in 2021.
