An archaeological evaluation comprising 7 trial trenches was undertaken across 2.6 ha at the Northern Sustainable Placement Area, Newyears Green Lane, Ickenham. All potential archaeological features encountered were tested by hand excavation. The work was conducted in accordance with a location specific written scheme of investigation (LS-WSI) (1EW02-CSJ-EV-PLN-S002-000052) and a project plan (PP) (1EW02-CSJ-EV PLNS002-000045) produced by CSjv in tandem with the Generic Written Scheme of Investigation: Historic Environment Research and Delivery Strategy (GWSI: HERDS) for Phase One of HS2 (HS2-HS2-EV-STR-000-000015). The GWSI: HERDS fulfils the commitment of the Secretary of State as set out in the Heritage Memorandum (HS2 2017).
