Abstract

El conocimiento directo sobre los municipios permite entender las formas de valorización del capital (físico y humano: espacio cognitivo), así como las relaciones que se puedan presentar entre las características económicas, sociales, culturales, ambientales e institucionales dentro del sistema único territorial, en este caso la Región Pacífico de Colombia. Como se planteó en el capítulo anterior, el análisis de las características de la competitividad territorial se focaliza sobre los municipios que conforman el 65 % de la fuerza aglomerada de la región. Debe anotarse que la información secundaria disponible no es consistente en su totalidad, por lo que se hizo una depuración para reducir tanto el número de variables a estudiar como los municipios a revisar. De este modo se conformaron muestras (no estadísticas) de observación y, siguiendo la metodología de Torres Arzayúz y Caicedo Cuervo (2015), se perfiló un grupo de municipios que permiten dar cuenta de especificidades, pero también de rasgos que se constituyen en denominador común en este recorrido por la RPC. El trabajo realizado a partir de la información secundaria6 permitió identificar municipios que pueden ser objeto de trabajo de campo, con el fin de obtener datos primarios. No obstante, algunas limitantes (principalmente efectos de seguridad, distancia y presupuesto) determinaron la selección de algunos estudios de caso.
