Abstract

It is becoming commonplace to refer to the open-science scene as an 'ecosystem'. This useful concept suggests a closer look at the basic characteristics and functioning of OS as an ecosystem. A logical question arises from this perspective: What are the main assets of contemporary open science, and what is still needed to ensure a long and healthy life for this growing ecosystem? This talk proposes some preliminary answers that may help to chart the course of open science for the next generations.
