Abstract

Objetivo: Examinar la eficacia del plasma atmosférico frío en el tratamiento de las úlceras del pie diabético. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica siguiendo el método PRISMA. Se consultaron las bases de datos de PubMed, Cinahl, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Academic Search Complete, Lilacs, IBECS, CENTRAL, SciELO, y WOS. Se utilizó la herramienta Cochrane para valorar el riesgo de sesgo y la calidad de la evidencia se evaluó GRADE. Resultados: Se revisaron 5 artículos de 79 posibles. Los resultados mostraron la eficacia del plasma atmosférico frío en las úlceras del pie diabético. El número total de participantes fue de 193. Respecto al número total de aplicaciones osciló entre 8 y 14. La frecuencia fue variable, entre un periodo de 2-3 veces por semana hasta 6 semanas, dependiendo del estudio revisado. Conclusiones: El plasma atmosférico frío parece ser eficaz para el tratamiento de las úlceras del pie diabético. Entre las ventajas se observó que acelera la cicatrización, reduce la superficie de la úlcera, disminuye el tiempo de cierre de la herida y tiene efectos antisépticos y antibacterianos, al afectar la fase inflamatoria mediante la inducción de factores de crecimiento e interleucinas. A literature review] Objective: To examine the efficacy of cold atmospheric plasma in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out following the PRISMA method. The PubMed, Cinahl, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Academic Search Complete, Lilacs, IBECS, CENTRAL, SciELO, and WOS databases were consulted. The Cochrane tool was used to assess the risk of bias and the quality of the evidence was assessed GRADE. Results: Five articles out of 79 possible were reviewed. The results showed the efficacy of cold atmospheric plasma in diabetic foot ulcers. The total number of participants was 193. Regarding the total number of applications, it ranged between 8 and 14. The frequency was variable, between periods of 2-3 times a week up to 6 weeks, depending on the study reviewed. Conclusions: Cold atmospheric plasma seems effective for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Among the advantages, it was observed that it accelerates healing, reduces the surface area of the ulcer, decreases wound closure time, and has antiseptic and antibacterial effects, by affecting the inflammatory phase through the induction of growth factors and interleukins.
