Elementos para pensar en la violencia política contra las personas LGBTIQ+

Abstract

A través de este trabajo se desarrollan elementos conceptuales que permiten hacer una aproximación a la violencia política que sufren las personas LGBTIQ+ por hechos o situaciones de discriminación, prejuicios y violencia basados en la orientación sexual, identidad o expresión de género diversa, tanto en la etapa electoral al igual que durante el ejercicio del cargo de elección popular. Para lo anterior, se reconstruyeron algunos casos de violencia a partir de la información registrada en la prensa, decisiones de autoridades electorales e informes de organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Estos casos permitieron identificar que existe una violencia asociada a la ausencia de reconocimiento de la identidad de género de las personas trans, la cual en algunas ocasiones se profundiza ante la existencia de marcos electorales cisexistas y otra relacionada a los ataques que sufren las personas electas por su orientación sexual. La invitación que se hace a través de este documento de trabajo es iniciar el debate sobre la necesidad de adoptar un concepto de violencia política contra las personas LGBTIQ+ que incluya categorías específicas para la investigación, sanción y reparación de estos hechos, esto como un mecanismo para visibilizar los obstáculos que limitan la participación de este sector poblacional.
