This document is a synopsis of the tasks completed in the first year of the Polar Pilot Federated Search (PPFS) project. The WDS-ITO developed this set of tools and portal for the POLDER Working Group with the goal to provide a single search interface for both Arctic and Antarctic metadata. This document aims to ensure the PPFS stays relevant and valuable to the research data management (RDM) community. The document begins by briefly describing the pilot federated search, and then lays out a plan for the disposition and development of the project, particularly the steps to success, milestones, hosting documentation, and next steps.
