Κριτήρια, μεθοδολογία & αξιολόγηση της οικολογικής συμπεριφοράς των υλικών

Abstract

Όταν αναφερόµαστε σήµερα σε οικολογική (πράσινη) αρχιτεκτονική, συνήθως εννοούµε την βιοκλιµατική αρχιτεκτονική η οποία αξιοποιεί τον προσανατολισµό του κτηρίου, τον φυσικό αερισµό κ.α. κλιµατολογικά στοιχεία, µε στόχο την βέλτιστη λειτουργία κτηρίου στο οποίο επικρατούν συνθήκες θερµικής, οπτικής και ακουστικής άνεσης µε την ελάχιστη τεχνολογική υποστήριξη.. Αφού όµως το κτήριο αποτελείται από υλικά και στα πλαίσια του πράσινου σχεδιασµού του, οφείλει να συµπεριληφθεί η αξιολόγηση µε οικολογικά κριτήρια των δοµικών υλικών του. Η επιλογή των υλικών ενός κτηρίου εξαρτάται άµεσα από µια σειρά οικονοµικών, περιβαλλοντικών, ενεργειακών κ.α. παραµέτρων. Ο κύκλος των εργασιών που συνδέεται µε την παραγωγή, τη διακίνηση αλλά και την χρήση των δοµικών υλικών, είναι πολυσύνθετος και κατ' επέκταση τα κριτήρια για την οικολογική συµπεριφορά των υλικών δεν είναι ιδιαίτερα εύκολο να εκφραστούν ποσοτικά. Η διαδικασία παραγωγής των υλικών, ο κύκλος ζωής τους και η τελική τους διάθεση (απόρριψη) έχει σηµαντικές επιπτώσεις στο ευρύτερο περιβάλλον.
