Abstract

Das Amerika Haus Archiv ist ein von der U.S. Botschaft gefördertes Projekt, welches vom Institut für Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin durchgeführt wird. Inhalt des Online-Archivs sind digitalisierte Amerikadienste und Poster von Ausstellungen in den Amerika Häusern. Die Amerikadienste waren das Mitteilungsblatt der Vereinigten Staaten, in denen politische Reden, Neuigkeiten, aber auch Berichte aus dem amerikanischen Alltag für die Deutschen veröffentlicht wurden. Im Amerika Haus Archiv befinden sich über 1.000 Amerikadienste aus den Jahren 1945 bis 1999, darunter die Rede Martin Luther Kings, die Rede Clintons zum 50. Jahrestag der Luftbrücke, sowie auch mehrere Sonderausgaben zum Bild der Frau. Das Archiv verwendet die Open Source Software Omeka in der Version 2.7 zur Speicherung und Präsentation der Inhalte (Backend und Frontend des digitalen Archivs) und wird von der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, unter Projektleitung von Prof. Greifeneder, gepflegt. Digitalisiert wurden die Amerikadienste in einer Kooperation der Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin (ZLB) und Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; die Originale liegen in den Archiven der ZLB. Alle Amerikadienste sind nach Dublin Core erfasst, wobei sich im Beschreibungsfeld das Inhaltsverzeichnis der jeweiligen Ausgabe findet. Das Projekt läuft noch bis Mitte 2020.
