Abstract
Exponentially increasing data consumption is fuelling the development of mega data centres to tackle the associated complexity of intra-data centre network management and dwindling data storage capacities. This is reflected by an increase in international research and development activities to accelerate commercial adoption of integrated photonics and optical interconnect across different tiers of the data centre.
