The E-Prep team are funded by UKRI under the project titled “Combined bacterial and viral infection epidemics: Examining the evidence and appropriate responses to protect crop health (E-Prep)” MR/Z50581X/1. The project began on 1st September 2024 and is due to complete its objectives the 31st May 2025. Our vision is to tackle the core topics of vector-borne viral and bacterial diseases in agriculture and horticulture. We use sugar beet as an exemplar system in which Virus Yellows (VY) and Syndrome Basses Richesses (SBR), a proteobacterium and phytoplasma complex, threaten UK and European productivity. The main project aim is to create a roadmap for future research, growers, business and policy.
