Abstract

Per quanto in apparenza controintuitivo, l’accostamento di ‘ontologia’ e ‘politica’ entro una cornice leopardiana può richiamarsi a non pochi precedenti notevoli. Ci si potrebbe anzi spingere a sostenere che proprio una tale diade riesca con efficacia a dar conto dello ‘spirito’, se non anche della ‘lettera’, d’una stagione fra le più filosoficamente feconde della critica leopardista: quella, cioè, inaugurata – come tante volte si è ripetuto – da Leopardi progressivo e da La nuova poetica leopardiana, entrambi del 1947, e prolungata quindi dagli studi successivi dei medesimi Luporini e Binni cui si aggiungevano per via Timpanaro e Negri, oppure, con letture più prettamente filosofiche, Severino e Givone e molti altri. Che esista una “ontologia di Giacomo Leopardi” – così il sottotitolo del testo tutt’ora prezioso e suggestivo di Toni Negri – è fuori di dubbio, almeno se si consente a un impiego lato sensu del termine in direzione del ‘materialismo’ o del ‘nichilismo’, della ‘filosofia della natura’ o della (anti-)‘teologia’ di Leopardi. Che esista poi un nesso fra questa dimensione speculativa e l’ambito mobile del ‘politico’, è persuasione che traspare da avventure critiche quali quelle summenzionate, sempre intente ad articolare l’esegesi testuale con il ‘compito del giorno’ (storico, sociale, civile o perfino partitico).
