webinar: Improving the interface between research and standardisation: Examples from Blockchain research

Abstract

This webinar explored the critical synergies between research and standardization, highlighting how standardization can enhance the impact and success of research projects. After an introduction to the interface between research and standardization by Prof. Knut Blind from Fraunhofer ISI, the discussion focused on blockchain’s potential. Moritz Böhmecke-Schwafert from TU Berlin and Bundesblock presented the benefits of early standardization, particularly the immutability concept of blockchain. Representatives from the German standardization body DIN elaborated on the role of standardization in the Horizon Europe project IMPULSE, which integrates Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence to improve electronic identities, and its potential for uptake at the city level. Finally, Maria Giuffrida from TRUST-IT shared insights from HSBooster, a coordination and support action that assists blockchain research projects in navigating the path to standardization.Webinar webpage and recording are available at the following here.
