Abstract

This is a presentation of Ingrid Schneider from University of Hamburg (UHAM), Germany during her PRODIGEES research secondment to Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), Brazil. It focuses on data protection and the implementation of the LGPD in Brazil and highlights the need to strengthen the data protection culture and civil society forces in Brazil. Measures taken by president Lula's new government will be decisive for the development of LGPD and for the protection of democracy and civil liberties on the Internet.
