PRATIQUES LITTERATIQUES UNIVERSITAIRES EN ANGLAIS EN CONTEXTE SCIENTIFIQUE FRANÇAIS : CAS DES DOCTORANTS / UNIVERSITY LITERACY PRACTICES IN ENGLISH IN A FRENCH SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT : CASE OF DOCTORAL STUDENTS

Abstract

Mots clés: littératie universitaire étudiante, représentations, anglais des sciences, article de recherche Abstract: The decree of May 25 2016 sets the national framework for training and the procedures leading to the national doctoral degree. It is therefore an opportunity for doctoral students to work on their thesis project and to be trained in various aspects of the profession of researcher. We therefore examine the place of language, particularly English, which has become essential in the scientific community, in doctoral training: oral communications are in English so are research articles. We also focus on the integration of scientific culture into this doctoral training, considering the notions of the rhetoric of science and modes of thought. Through an exploratory survey of doctoral students in the doctoral schools of science at Univ. X, we analyse their representations from the perspective of student literacy: literary practices in English for science in the written and oral forms, and notably the competence of writing research articles in English. Key words: university student literacy, representations, English for science, research article
