Aedes (Aedes) geminus Peus 1970

Abstract

Aedes (Aedes) geminus Peus, 1970 Published sources: None. Voucher material: None. Comment: Aedes geminus has been reported from Lithuania (Pakalniškis et al. 2000; Bernotienė & Lučiūnaitė 2011), a province in northwestern Russia adjacent to Estonia (Khalin & Aibulatov 2020), Finland (Culverwell 2018; Culverwell et al. 2021) and Sweden (Lundström et al. 2013). Therefore, it may also be present in Estonia, but more work is needed to verify this, as the adult females of this species are difficult to distinguish from those of Ae. cinereus.

Published as part of Kirik, Heli, Tummeleht, Lea & Kurina, Olavi, 2022, Rediscovering the mosquito fauna (Diptera: Culicidae) of Estonia: an annotated checklist with distribution maps and DNA evidence, pp. 261-287 in Zootaxa 5094 (2) on page 278, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5094.2.3, http://zenodo.org/record/5965149
