Coenosia brachialis Rondani 1877

Abstract

Coenosia brachialis Rondani, 1877 ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1877c: 255 (key), 262 (description). TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia centrale [central Italy]”. TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one glued to a cardboard) (MZUF: Box 24): Coenosia Mgn / brachialis Rnd. / 1284. CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Caricea brachialis (Pont 1986b: 193); valid species, as Lispocephala brachialis (Gorodkov et al. 1995: 15). REMARKS: Rondani (1877c: 262) described Coenosia brachialis from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Semel marem legi [I collected the male once]”. We found two syntypes in this study. Two MZUF females are not included in the type series because of their sex.
