Abstract : Surgical removal of the appendix is most frequent practice done in surgery. Unfortunately, most reliable procedure is still debatable. Both laparoscopic (LA) and open (OA) procedures are still in practice for surgical removal of appendix. Laparoscopic procedure is no doubt the gold standard for cholecystectomy, but laparoscopic approach is not widely used for surgical removal of appendix. Difficult handling, cost expensive for patient and hospital, extreme care of the instrument, longer duration of procedure are among the major reasons that have been cited for not using LA.
