Our understanding of the formation and evolution of the Milky Way is undergoing a revolution after Gaia's measurements. We have discovered a dominant population of radially biased stars (`Gaia-sausage' or `Gaia-Enceladus') which is attributed to a significant event in the history of the Milky Way, a merger with a relatively massive dwarf galaxy . I present results on the origin of this population and it's implication for the stellar halo and disk of the Milky Way, using Auriga simulations.
