Abstract

Social media was used to disseminate project activities to general public and target groups as well as a communication tool for team members. T he OIKONET Facebook page , complemented by the OIKONET web portal was the preferred channel to reach the general public and interested stakeholders Event specific OIKONET blogs (e.g. workshops, international conferences, participatory actions) supplemented the project website. The OIKONET Twitter channel was used to communicate project activities, particularly those which had taken place in conjunction with project events. A channel was created in YouTube to disseminate lectures, learning resources, recordings of conference presentations as well as summaries of the project outcomes. Specific Facebook groups were created to serve as communication platform s for some project activities , particularly workshops and learning spaces Google + was also used for this purpose. Finally, the project was disseminated among professionals through LinkedIn, and academicsand researchers via Researchgate.
