
Después de su ausencia por treinta años, se describe nuevamente la presencia y reanidación de Sternula antillarum (Charadriiformes: Laridae), en la bahía El Saco, isla de Coche, Venezuela. Se señala como posible causa del resurgimiento de estas pequeñas colonias a la ausencia de visitas turísticas y de habitantes locales, durante los más de dos años de pandemia (COVID-19), encuentros que en ocasiones (motos cuatro ruedas, camiones y otros vehículos rústicos) perturbaban o dañaban el frágil equilibrio ecológico de esta isla paradisíaca del Caribe, de aquí que, sea importante escuchar e involucrar a los ecologistas de la isla en todas las actividades turísticas, para que haya un desarrollo sustentable, con mínimo impacto al ambiente, a su flora y fauna, ya que las aves solo anidarán donde se sientan tranquilas y seguras.
