Fortalezas externas y consumo de alcohol en adolescecentes

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como propósito identificar el nivel predictivo de algunas fortalezas externas que protegen a los jóvenes del consumo de alcohol. Se seleccionó una muestra no probabilística de 996 estudiantes de preparatorias públicas y privadas de la Ciudad de México, 41.1% hombres y 58.9% mujeres con un promedio de edad de 16.9 años (D. E. = 1.3). Las fortalezas externas relacionadas con la familia se evaluaron con la dimensión de supervisión de la Escala de Estilos Parentales (Andrade & Betancourt, 2008). Las fortalezas externas asociadas con amigos se evaluaron con una escala diseñada específicamente para este estudio, la cual consta de tres dimensiones: 1) no tener amigos con conductas de riesgo, 2) no tener amigos que se involucren en conductas antisociales, 3) tener amigos con conductas saludables. El consumo de alcohol se evaluó con base en un indicador de frecuencia y cantidad. Los resultados mostraron diferencias significativas en casi todas las fortalezas externas evaluadas por sexo, excepto en la supervisión paterna. Por lo que respecta a los predictores, en el caso de los varones, el hecho de que no tengan amigos con conductas de riesgo y la supervisión materna fueron las variables que explicaron 13% de la varianza del no riesgo al consumo de alcohol. Para las mujeres, las variables que entraron al modelo de regresión fueron el no tener amigos con conductas de riesgo y la supervisión tanto materna como paterna, que explicaron 19% de la varianza.
