<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation in the effectiveness of various cooling methods of pistons in internal combustion engines. The advantages and disadvantages of different methods are stressed and quantitative data are obtained for calculation and prediction of piston temperatures. The methods discussed are: no oil cooling, cooling from a pressure lubricated small end, jet cooling, and “cocktail shaker.”</div>
