Eine besondere Oberstufe

Abstract

The Oberstufen-Kolleg is the oldest and best-known experimental school in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, alongside the Laboratory School founded at the same time. Its conception as a workshop for a new upper secondary school in the upheaval phase of the educational system of the late sixties still has an impact today. Despite various modifications due to educational policy developments and the gradual alignment to the regulatory system of the upper secondary school, it has retained its mission to develop new concepts and to research problems of the upper secondary school levels and the transition between school and university. The article outlines the different institutional conditions, special pedagogical concepts, and the living together in the community of the Oberstufen-Kolleg, which is perceived as particularly positive, as aspects of the innovation-focused institutional mission and at the same time an expression of a scientifically sound practice and practice-oriented science on the background of its historical origin.
