Les « points vitaux » de la sucrerie Méjico

Abstract

Cet article propose une reflexion autour d’un secret religieux afro-cubain transmis de generation en generation dans la famille descendante de l’esclave Ta Jorge, lequel a ete le chef des captifs ayant vecu a la plantation Alava, aujourd’hui nommee Mejico (Matanzas, Cuba). Ce secret concerne la localisation des « points vitaux » de la sucrerie Mejico ou sont dispersees des offrandes afin de garantir le bon deroulement de la recolte de canne a sucre. En adoptant l’approche relationnelle et pragmatique, je montrerai que ce secret emerge d’une memoire incorporee de l’histoire plantationnaire locale. Il constitue une modalite de controle de la violence qu’incarne par la plantation, et reactualise par la-meme le role des descendants de Ta Jorge en tant que mediateurs privilegies entre les habitants et le divin. Integrant la parente et la memoire dans le debat sur le secret afro-cubain, ce travail permettra de proposer une typologie de ces savoirs caches definis selon les dynamiques relationnelles qu’ils engagent.
