Abstract

Este artículo vincula un personaje de ficción con los discursos normativos que pesan sobre las «mujeres indígenas» en la sociedad boliviana contemporánea. Saturnina Mamani, el personaje ficticio, es a la vez indianista y feminista, dos compromisos incompatibles debido al carácter masculino del indianismo y la desconfianza con la que las mujeres de los sectores más vulnerables perciben al feminismo. La novela propone la ficción política de una Bolivia descolonizada, donde la opresión sobre los indios ha terminado, pero donde se mantiene una opresión de las mujeres. Esto lleva a la protagonista hacia un feminismo separatista que se erige como una forma de lucha contra una sociedad patriarcal. El recurso a la ficción merece ser interrogado tomando en cuenta el contexto de publicación y la política de descolonización que llevaron adelante los gobiernos de Evo Morales.
