L’évitement terminologique du mot « lesbiana » chez Esther Tusquets

Abstract

La fin de la censure en 1977 ouvre la voie à la publication du premier roman de Tusquets, El mismo mar de todos los veranos et à son langage charnel et authentique. Ce récit décrit l’expérience lesbienne d’une narratrice qui échappe, pour quelques jours, à sa vie hétéronormée, et se réfugie, près de Clara, dans la libre expression de ses désirs, de ses pulsions. Pourtant, ni dans le roman, ni dans la communication de l’autrice, il n’est question de relation « lesbiana » ou « lésbica ». Cet article se propose d’explorer comment cet évitement terminologique renforce, d’une certaine manière, la puissance du langage du corps. Il parcourt la réception de ce roman afin d’observer les choix terminologiques des critiques littéraires et analyse ce contournement terminologique par une étude du positionnement de l’autrice en dehors de ses textes fictionnels. La mise au jour du discours de Tusquets dans la presse nous invite à appréhender plus précisément son opinion.
