Abstract

Dans son introduction au China Story Yearbook de 2013 consacré à la thématique « Civilising China », Gérémie Barmé évoque l’acte de vandalisme du jeune Ding Jihao, 14 ans, survenu en mai 2013 en Égypte : cet adolescent avait gravé en chinois sur l’une des antiques et précieuses fresques murales du temple de Luxor le message « Ding Jihao est venu ici ». Cet incident a été l’occasion pour les media chinois de raviver un débat, récurrent ces trente dernières années, sur le supposé bas degré de wenming...
