Abstract

Résumé Le paradoxe de la situation française en matière de formation des adultes est né du fait d’avoir institutionnellement rattaché celle-ci au travail et donc à la responsabilité de l’entreprise. Il en a résulté l’occultation des initiatives individuelles de formation qui ont néanmoins pu se concrétiser à travers des dispositifs qui ont vu leur nombre et leur volume se restreindre au cours du temps. Si l’on interroge directement les personnes, celles-ci se déclarent pourtant à l’origine de leurs formations dans une proportion beaucoup plus importante que ce que laisse penser le comptage des dispositifs institutionnels de formation dédiés à cette catégorie. Or un contexte où l’autonomie des personnes devient une norme sociale nécessite la reconnaissance de ces initiatives individuelles afin de fournir aux individus les moyens de construire leur autonomie à travers leurs décisions en matière d’orientation professionnelle, de mobilité et de formation.
