Erken Sinop Yerleşmeleri

Abstract

Sinop, Karadeniz Bölgesi'nin önemli liman kentlerinden birisidir. Burası Kuzey Anadolu Dağları tarafından ikiye bölünen ve farklı coğrafi özellikler gösteren bir bölgedir (Harita 1). Bu çalışmamızda, Sinop'un en eski dönemlerinden başlayarak Roma egemenliği sonuna kadar olan yerleşmelerini ele almaktayız. Burada, Sinop'da yapılan birkaç bilimsel araştırma ve kazının yanısıra bölgede sürdürdüğümüz araştırmalar ve müze çalışmaları sırasında edindiğimiz bilgiler de değerlendirmelerimizde önemli bir katkı sağladı(1). Bu bölgede yapılan çalışmaların başlıcaları: Ch. Burney(2), M. A. Işın(3) ve Ş. Dönmez(4) gibi araştırmacıların bilimsel nitelikli yüzey araştırmaları ve buradaki malzemelerle ilgili değerlendirmeleri ile, E. Akurgal'ın Sinop'da yaptığı kazılardır(5). Bunun yanında Karadeniz Ticari Projesi çerçevesinde bölgede çalışan bir ekibin değerlendirmeleri de gözönüne alınmıştır(6).
